ABOUT US

The Government-Industry TVET Coordination Body (GITC) is a collaborative platform established to bridge the gap between the needs of industries and the education provided by Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in Malaysia.

GITC is a non-profit private sector, funded by the Government, comprising 16 representatives from the Government, industries, and trade union. GITC is tasked to gather information, provide insights for policy considerations, and champion a dynamic and responsive TVET ecosystem that equips graduates with the skills and knowledge demanded by industries.

PURPOSE
GITC is a collaborative platform aimed at steering the national TVET (technical and vocational education and training) agenda, focusing on human capital development, skills, and workforce.
INITIATIVES
TVET Collaboration Hub involves11 ministries, coordinated by the Higher Education Ministry, and 12 identified hubs in various sectors like automotive, aerospace, and food technology.
MEMBERSHIP
Comprises 12 industry representatives working together to realize the national TVET agenda2.
GOALS
Strengthen the TVET ecosystem, align education with industry needs, and promote TVET as a primary choice for youth.

GITC TERMS OF REFERENCE

Advise the government on the aspects of development of TVET-related policies

Implement strategic cooperation with employers, TVET institutions, and professional bodies both within and outside the country

Plan manpower requirements through engagement sessions involving relevant agencies and ministries

Promote TVET programmes and intensify career advocacy through active public and private institution collaboration

Recommend incentives to encourage industry participation in TVET development to the government
